The Auto Union 1000 Sp was a coupe/cabriolet built by Auto Union, Audi’s immediate predecessor. This original Auto Union 1000 Sp is one of the 5000 examples built between 1958 and 1965 and is powered by a 981cc two-stroke 3-cylinder engine producing 54 horsepower. This vehicle is completed in two-tone red/cream over a red/black interior and has been meticulously maintained over the years and has recently had engine work completed. It is now offered with 69.200 kilometers. Although true mileage is unknown.
The cabin is upholstered in two-tone red and black vinyl which extends to the dashboard, door cards and rear bench along with a variety of chrome accents, ivory coloured steering wheel and adjustable front seats. The chrome theme is carried over to the exterior trim, including front and rear bumpers, head and taillight trims, grille and wheel covers. The bodywork of all 1000 Sp models was produced by Baur in Stuttgart, while the cars were assembled in the DKW factory in Ingolstadt.
15” wheels house the front and rear drum brakes, producing sufficient stopping power. Power of the two-barrel carburated 981cc engine is sent to the front wheels through a column four-speed manual gearbox. This meant that the 1000 Sp could reach a top speed of 140 km/h
