This Triumph Spitfire Mark IV was purchased by the original owner in 1973 and is finished in British Racing Green over a black interior. The 1,296cc inline-four sends power to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual gearbox. It was originally rented by a hotel/restaurant, for driving services. This Spitfire is now offered on behalf of the current owner with uninstalled chrome mesh stone guards, spare tire and recent service records. Seller notes that the Spitfire was passing the Belgian technical control without any problem every year.
The Mark IV’s bodywork was redesigned by Giovanni Michelotti when it launched in 1970. The most significant change of the Mark IV was the rear suspension of the car which was improved. The rear end of the car was given a cut-off style and the front end was redesigned with a new bonnet. Among the changes were the weld lines on the top of the front wings/fenders, which was eliminated along with the chrome finisher strips that covered them. The interior of the vehicle was improved with a full-width dashboard.
The interior of the car is upholstered in black with black leather seats. The doorcards are finished in leather as well. A racing style leather-wrapped Triumph steering wheels sits in front of the wooden dash and frames the instrumentation that consists of a tachometer, speedometer along with fuel and temperature gauges. The 5-digit odometer is showing 52.113 kilometers
The Mark IV was also the first Spitfire that received synchromesh on first gear. 13” Minilite wheels are finished in grey and wear Falken tires. Seller points out rust at the bottom of the body. This will be repaired and treated for the sale. The maintenance has been done by the seller's garage in February this year.
